Psychologist
As part of the multi-disciplinary team at Innovations Healthcare, you will be seeing a Psychologist.
Typically, patients see a Psychologist before surgery; 6-8 weeks after surgery; and every 3 months for the first year, and every 6 months after that. This may vary, either seeing the Psychologist more or less, depending on what level of care is best suited to you. This can be discussed between you and the Psychologist. There are a number of ways that your appointments can be billed. Generally patients use their private health cover, but we also welcome referrals from your treating GP to receive rebates from Medicare. Chris Thompson

Chris has been in private practice Psychology since 2004, working with North Eastern Psychological Services and Innovations Healthcare. At Innovations Healthcare, he works with patients pre and post gastric banding, as well as non surgical patients. In this role, he has assisted motivated people to implement new behaviours and thinking, maximising the likelihood of weight loss and maintenance. Chris sees that working in a team affords a holistic approach to patients who are taking on board significant changes in their lives. Chris maintains up-to date clinical skills and has attended presentations such as that of Canadian researchers Peter Herman and Janet Polivy; completed Dr.Rick Kausman's 'If Not Dieting' training and Dr. John Dixon's LapBand training. Chris has a strong interest in health Psychology, and has been
on numerous committees relating to standards of care.
